2007-2008 Procedures/Guidelines

Overview

Fun's the name of the game. However, we can't afford to abuse the luxury of racing, provided to us by Kart 2 Kart. Here are a few important guidelines:

  • Make sure that you have taken precautionary measures to ensure that oil and coolant (if applicable) are not leaking at any time. Check your oil plug and make sure it isn't loose. Safety wire it if you're feeling really sharp. You'd be surprised what can vibrate off a bike; even a little fifty.
  • No stopping on the track for any reason. If you have a mechanical problem with your bike, do not attempt to fix it on track. Immediately get you and your bike safely off the track.
  • Make sure to get your arm up or signal in some way that you're coming off the track when exiting, never cutting across the track in front of other riders.
  • Take care that you leave the facility in the way that it was when you arrived. This simply means cleaning up after yourself.
  • You must be 18 to race.

Technical-related issues:

  • 1. Functional front and rear brakes are required.
  • 2. Ignition kill switch must work.
  • 3. Bikes must not leak any fluids.

Gear Required: Full length clothing (pants, shirt), helmet, leather shoes (covering ankle), and full length jacket.

Gear Recommended: Eye protection, knee/elbow pads, and gloves (full suit leathers are great for those who already have them).

Classification of Riders and Points

  • You must start the race and complete half of race distance to earn any points in the heat races. You need only to take the green flag in the final to receive points. Half-race distance is not required.
  • If you miss your heat race, you are not allowed to enter into another heat race to make up for it.
  • Bikes must be equipped with legible numbers on all 3 number plates (view current member list for available numbers). Bikes without numbers will not be scored.
  • Classes will be broken down into two heats with the top 6-7 riders (based on the total number in the heat) from each heat making it to the final. All riders not making the final will be awarded points, based on the total grid size. They will also be able to race in the last chance qualifier (LCQ). The winner of the LCQ will be awarded the last grid spot in the final.
  • In the case of two or more racers finishing with the same amount of points, the tie breaker will go the rider with the most wins (or 2nd, 3rd place finishes, etc. if neither has a win).
  • At the end of the series, each rider will be able to drop one round and not have it apply to the championship point standings.
  • Class champions from last year can run the #1 plate if they wish. If moving to a different class, you must run your normal number.
  • You cannot run any number other than #1, solely because of your overall finish from a previous season. If the number you want is available, you may request to switch your number to that. However you cannot run a number that has already been taken within the series - even if they race in a different class.

Fees

The cost for memberships will be $30 per member and will last through the duration of the season. Membership will be required to participate in any practice or race event.

All members will be counted for points towards the championship and be eligible for random prizes giveaways at each round. Race fees will be collected at registration and are as follows:

  • Members: $20 (for the day)

Gridding

Gridding will be based on points, and then in the order of registration. There will be four bikes per row. Each row should be staggered, so a rider does not hit the rider in front of them if they have a mechanical problem on the start.

Gridding for the final will be based on points accumulated from the heat races. In the event of a tie, the rider with the most overall points will win the tie breaker.

Registration will close once practice starts. If you arrive after that time, you will have to start from the back of the grid, regardless of your standing in the points.

Endurance Rules

  • 3-man teams
  • We will provide matching t-shirts to your team for scoring purposes
  • All races will be 30, 45 or 60 minutes (based on the time we have available)
  • 2 pit stop minimum for races longer than 30 minutes
  • You must "tag" your teammate in the pits before he/she can go out
  • All riders must be members to accumulate points
  • Each team must have a bike from every class: (ex. 1 Unlimited, 1 88-Extreme and 1 Superstock bike). If your team does not have an unlimited bike, you may run two 88-Extreme bikes (one being used as the Unlimited bike)
  • There can be no sharing of an Unlimited bike in the endurance races; that would be considered two Unlimited bikes
  • All 3 teammates must participate in at least 5 of the 8 GLMMRS endurance events.
  • Equal Rider Rule: For 2-man teams, each rider must ride at least 40% of the total time of the endurance race. For 3-man teams, each rider must ride at least 30% of the total endurance time, with one rider riding no more than 40% of the overall time. Failure to fall within this range will result in a 5-lap penalty (it's really more simple than it sounds - basically everyone should be riding approximately equal amounts)

Performance Index/Cheating

GLMMRS reserves the right to "performance index" and/or teardown any bike at any time for any reason. This means that in the issue of competitive racing for all members, a bike may be bumped up a class/PI'd accordingly at the discretion of GLMMRS HQ if deemed to have an unfair advantage in it's current class.

If any rider is caught blatantly cheating at any time, he/she will immediately lose all points and not be able to ride again until their bike is proven to be legal. Any second occurrence of cheating and he/she will no longer be able to participate in any GLMMRS events indefinitely.

We're here to have fun, race, and become better riders. Spec-racing is our goal. If you have any questions on whether or not something is legal, ask us first.
